I am Levin’s grandmother and advocate<\/a>. This website is an ongoing work-in-progress to document Levin’s journey with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  Levin was born on July 4, 2015. At the time of this writing, Levin was seven years of age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Levin was in Pre-K, his educational team believed that he was demonstrating signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Las Cruces Public Schools conducted a Multidisciplinary Evaluation and provided an Educational Determination for Autism<\/strong> dated May 19, 2021,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to  COVID-19 disruptions, Levin did not receive a Medical Diagnosis for ASD<\/strong> until January 6, 2022 by UNM CDD<\/a> . He was on their waitlist for more than two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Backlogs and delays in non-emergency healthcare caused by COVID-19 pandemic have stretched health systems world-wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have probably heard the old proverb “It takes a village to raise a child” — this is especially important for children with ASD. Fortunately, Levin’s grandparents on both sides, have been very supportive of him, especially in providing childcare, helping him focus on online school, homework, and providing various childhood experiences such as visits to the zoo, hiking, swimming, special interest projects, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Levin is an adorable, loving and enthusiastic child. He celebrated his 7th birthday on July 4, 2022.  He attends Sonoma Elementary School and is in second grade.  He has a younger (neurotypical) sister who is four years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
